Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CBX Labs (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores and protects your information when you use the PixlTag device, the PixlTag mobile app, and the pixltags.com website (together, the “Services”). By using the Services you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Contact card (vCard) data. If you create a digital contact card in the app, we collect the details you enter — which may include your name, job title, company, phone number, email address, postal address, website, social links and an optional profile photo. This is used to generate a contact card file (.vcf).

Pet profile data. If you create a pet ID tag, we collect the details you enter — such as your pet's name, breed, microchip number, an optional photo, and your contact details (name, phone numbers, email, notes and any reward text). This is used to host a public “found pet” page at an unguessable link that your PixlTag points to.

Wi-Fi tag credentials. If you program a Wi-Fi sharing tag, we store the network name (SSID), password and security type you enter so that a tapped device can retrieve them from an unguessable link. Only share networks you are comfortable letting tag-tappers join, and use the app to clear or overwrite the tag at any time.

Email & marketing. If you sign up for product news, we collect your email address (and optionally your name).

Purchases. When you buy from our website, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details; we receive your email and shipping address to fulfil and support your order.

Bluetooth & device interaction. The app uses Bluetooth solely to connect to and configure your PixlTag device (display content, settings, NFC actions, firmware updates). This communication is local between your phone and your device; we do not collect personal data through Bluetooth.

Automatically collected. Our website uses privacy-friendly analytics and standard server logs (e.g. IP address) to operate the Services, prevent abuse and apply rate limits.

2. How hosted tag content is shared

Contact cards, pet profiles and Wi-Fi tags are intentionally designed to be shared. When you program one to your PixlTag, the content is hosted at a unique, unguessable web link, and the device's NFC tag points to that link. Anyone who taps your device or has the link can view the content — this is how the feature works. Only the PixlTag app (authenticated with a secret key) can create, change or remove hosted content; the public can only read it.

Please only include information in a hosted tag that you are comfortable sharing with anyone who taps your device.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide, operate and improve the Services;
  • generate and host your tag content (contact cards, pet profiles, Wi-Fi tags);
  • process orders, shipping and support;
  • send product news if you have opted in;
  • secure the Services, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.

4. Service providers we share with

We use trusted third parties to run the Services, who process data on our behalf:

  • Vercel — website hosting and hosted tag content storage (contact cards, pet profiles, Wi-Fi tags and photos).
  • Neon — database (email sign-ups, order and rate-limit records).
  • Stripe — payment processing.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law.

5. Data retention

We keep hosted tag content (contact cards, pet profiles, Wi-Fi tags) for as long as it remains hosted, and other information for as long as needed to provide the Services or as required by law. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).

6. Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any email. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or object to certain processing.

To request access or deletion — including removing a hosted contact card — email us at info@pixltags.com.

7. Security

We protect data in transit with encryption (HTTPS), restrict who can create or change hosted contact cards, validate input and apply rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. International users

We are based in Australia and our providers may process data in other countries. By using the Services you consent to this transfer and processing.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
